Gettysburg Cyclorama

After our auto tour of the area, we went back to the visitor center.  We saw the Gettysburg Cyclorama, which was done in the 1880s by a French painter, Paul Dominique Philippoteaux.  This huge painting is in a round auditorium, all around the room.  It is displayed with a narrative account of the battle, complete with lighting and sound effects.  Lots of loud cannons.  The Gettysburg Cyclorama is 359 feet long, 27 feet high and weighs an estimated 3 tons.
