Statue of Liberty

The statue is REALLY big!

We attend another ranger-led talk.  We sure have enjoyed the park rangers.  This is Ranger Jon.

This is the original flame.  It seems someone had a bright idea (pardon!) to turn the statue into a lighthouse.  So they poked holes thorough the flame so light could shine through, and made it like this.  This lasted a number of years, then the insides got corroded, and they made a new flame, the current one, that is covered in real gold and shines in the sun.
